Mains Accelerator Combo [MAC] : Integrated learning

The most common challenge associated with content is that it exists in silos. The solution is simple- Integration.

Aspirants often sub-consciously end up creating information silos around them in different ways. These silos act as information barriers, preventing the optimum use of content.

In the worst-case scenario, a silo becomes a dumping ground for content that “might be” useful sometime in the future, and then sits there, never used. This can result in duplicate and inconsistent records and a significant drag on efficiency. When this happens, large amounts of content will be wasted and go unused in the actual exam.

For instance, for a topic on Anti-Defection:

  • Cause: Aspirants usually end up having information at 4-5 different places in their notes. They have static portion ae one place and current affairs at some other place.

  • Result: Each topic begins to appear humungous with information scattered in silos.

  • Outcome: Each question asked in the exam halls seems like anew bouncer altogether.

But we have devised a solution- Integrated Learning approach!

How Integrated learning plays a role?

  • By using techniques like Inheritability and Replicability, we aim to build linkages between the different topics, sub topics etc. across the syllabus.

  • Also, treating Current Affairs as a standalone topic, aspirant fail to use them in adding dynamism to their answers. The silos created, thus inhibit the usage across static concepts. Thus, via integrated learning, we treat CA as a natural extension of the static concepts only, and not as something existing in isolation.

  • Also continuous integration of PYQs to reinforce that you are focussed on the type of questions and understanding that UPSC demands.

  • To top it all, value addition to the content will help you move one notch up with the requisite enrichment to your answers.
